April O’Neil Expansion for TMNT: Shadows of the Past Board Game

March 8th, 2017

IDW Games have announced one radical playable hero add-on, the first expansion for the massively successful TMNT: Shadows of the Past Board game!

April O’Neil, gutsy and independent ally of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is getting a premiere hero pack upgrade from Kevin Wilson, the same creator of the critical hit, TMNT: Shadows of the Past board game.

Fans can continue the plot of the original base game, TMNT: Shadows of the Past, with the April O’Neil Hero Pack, which includes an all-new adventure comic featuring four new battle scenarios not available in any previous TMNT box set.

The expansion includes April’s action dice, which features a double shuriken and two chi faces, making her a shredded powerhouse long-range fighter. Additionally, the pack includes 7 action cards such as First-Aid, which allows her to heal the Turtles, the boot-shaking Gravity Gauntlet, that both inflicts damage to opponents and knocks them back, and the Stealth Suit, which makes her incredibly hard to hit in combat.

Also available in this expansion pack, is a new April O’Neil figure sculpt with a completely different look. With her hood up and gravity gauntlet raised, April is ready to stand up and fight alongside Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo.

In total, the TMNT: Shadows of the Past Board game expansion: April O’Neil Hero Pack upgrade includes the plastic figure, three Action Dice, seven Action Cards, a Hero Sheet featuring new art from Tony Vargas, and the Adventure Comic with 4 new Battle scenarios. Please note that this pack requires the base game to play.

WizKids preview Michelangelo for TMNT Heroclix

March 12th, 2016

Today, we’re taking a look at the kookiest of the four turtles, the nunchaku-spinning prankster Michelangelo!  We’ll start off with a version of Michelangelo based on the original 1984 Mirage Comics series.

Michelangelo is an attacker who can bring the fight to the enemy while simultaneously helping his teammates.  To show this, he starts with the Charge and Empower standard powers on his dial.  The early-dial pairing of Charge and Empower means you can have Michelangelo move in for an attack, then bump up an adjacent teammate’s damage value when it’s their turn to take a swing at an opponent.

Like the 1984 comics versions of Raphael and Donatello we previously revealed, Michelangelo has the Fighting through the Swarms trait that allows him to be placed in any square adjacent to an opposing character he hits.  Also like Raphael and Donatello, Michelangelo’s weapons of choice (two nunchakus) are represented as a special power.  That special power, Nunchakus, lets him make two close attacks via Flurry.  Additionally, each time he hits an opponent, he can give that character an action token after actions resolve.

Michelangelo can be added to your force for 50 points and is a viable choice as an attacker who can also slow down an opponent’s force by dishing out action tokens through his Nunchakus special power.

Like the other characters in TMNT HeroClix they also have a Modern version. Head on over to the Wizkids site for more!

WizKids preview Raphael for TMNT HeroClix

February 26th, 2016

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Gravity Feed features more than 30 characters from the 32-year history, based on both the comics and animated tv series.  Today, we take a look at two versions of the toughest member of the ninja turtles, the sai-wielding Raphael!  First up is #001 Raphael, which is based on the 1984 Mirage Comics series!

This version of Raphael comes in at 50 points and has all the standard speed, attack, defense and damage symbols.  At only 50 points, Raphael leaves plenty of room for the rest of his brothers, and maybe even some allies, depending on your force build total.  He is built for close combat and has a power set that’s appropriate for this role.

The second version is inspired by the 2012 Nickelodeon take on TMNT’s Raphael. View him at the Wizkids Website along with more information about the 1984 Raphael HeroClix

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be tackled by IDW Games

July 16th, 2015

IDW Games announced a big box Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventure game complete with sculpted miniatures that is going to shell shock gamers.

Debuting in early 2016, the game will let players step into the roles of their favorite Turtle or ultimate villain, Shredder. Designed by Kevin Wilson with input from IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creative team, franchise co-creator Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz, the game will be available in a standard and special limited-edition format, featuring artwork by Eastman.

“I’m so excited to participate in this game!” said TMNT co-creator, Kevin Eastman. “Working with IDW on their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics has been amazing, and now to get the chance to go even deeper into the story and have fans play out key moments from the series for themselves is something that’s really going to blow people away.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past will be a scenario-driven campaign game that features story content from the hit ongoing IDW comic. Two to five players will battle their way through a series of 60-90 minute missions where players develop their characters strengths, fighting styles, and equipment along the way to create a lasting story arc. Fan-favorite characters like Casey Jones and Alopex will appear throughout the missions, as the Turtles call on their closest allies for help in battling their deadliest foes.

Expect to see plenty of overlap between the ongoing comic and the board game as game previews and exclusive content begin to show up in the back of the hit ongoing series. Contributions from the creative staff of IDW’s hit TMNT comic will make this board game come alive in ways not seen in past adventuring games. From expansions based on different micro-series and ongoing events, to character expansions featuring IDW’s awesome line-up of heroes, mutants, and miscreants, the turtles have never been more ready for adventure!

WizKids and Nickelodeon partner for TMNT HeroClix and Dice Masters

June 4th, 2015

WizKids announced a partnership with Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, to produce multiple tabletop games based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. The first two games developed under this partnership will be a special series of TMNT HeroClix™ figures, and a TMNT Dice Masters™ game, both set for release later this year.

“We are very excited to partner with Nickelodeon on expanding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand,” said Justin Ziran, President of WizKids. “We expect fans of both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and WizKids will be very pleased with the lineup of games we have in store, and we can’t wait to get them in players’ hands in the coming months.”

WizKids has seen great successes in its HeroClix collectible figure-battling and Dice Masters Dice Building™ products, and is very excited to bring fan-favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters, spanning all iterations of the comics from classic to present day as well as the classic cartoon and current hit CG-animated series on Nickelodeon, to both games.

“The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are classic and beloved characters, and we can’t wait to see them integrated into WizKids’ tabletop games,” said Manuel Torres, Senior Vice President, Global Toys and Publishing, Nickelodeon. “We are as excited as our fans are to see Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, Shredder and more come to life in HeroClix and Dice Masters.”
